What does “social networking mean”. Where do our personal relationships end and where does our ‘social’ or ‘digital’ relationships begin. I’ll give a full disclosure. I think the term ‘Social Media’ is redundant. The creation of sites like MySpace and Facebook only added functionality to a system that was already there and already SOCIAL. Now, the features that were added are nothing to scoff at, but it’s helpful to keep perspective. Social media maybe an arbitrary marketing classification. That’s debatable but what we do know is the web has always been social. I would say that’s the entire point of the internet. So whatever you want to call it doesn’t really matter.
